WATER BASED FINISH
THE PURPOSE OF FINISH
Finish is the final coat applied to your hardwood floor to protect it from abrasions, scratches and water spots. There are a wide variety of different types of finish depending on your needs.
FINISH OPTIONS
There are two main types of finish, oil based and water based as well as different grades for each. The main determining factor of what type of finish gets applied is how much traffic your floors will endure. For floors that need to take more of a pounding, there are commercial grade finishes, which typically get used in bowling alleys, on basket ball courts, and in places with a lot of foot traffic. Finishes can also come in the following different sheens, gloss, semi-gloss, satin and matte.
OUR RECOMMENDATION
We recommend any form of water based finish. Some customers, typically those that have had site finished floors in the past, express concern that water based finish doesn't coat or protect as well as oil based finish. Rest assured that is not the case, not only does water based finish protect just as well, but it dries faster, doesn't smell as bad and will get your floors complete much faster than oil based finish.
